Our Partners Say

Vanessaheadshot3.1.jpg
Attending the Head and Heart Philanthropy and Mosaic Genius gatherings, masterfully orchestrated by Christal Jackson in Martha’s Vineyard, has been a cornerstone for GirlTrek during our vital early stages. The intentionally crafted community provided us with essential thought leadership, exposure to best practices, and a nurturing atmosphere. As the co-founder of the largest health movement for Black women in the U.S., I am deeply grateful for this priceless experience. Especially to be in community with a cross sector of people who hold a big and brilliant vision for what is possible with intentional investment in black families and neighborhoods and communities.

Exploring New Business and Cultural Opportunities in the South

The Southern region of the US has the highest concentration of single-race black Americans, comprising 59% of the population. This presents a unique opportunity for industries and sectors that are looking to grow. Additionally, 90% of all historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) are located in ten Southern states. This inspired our Presidential Cohort Program, which serves the presidents of smaller HBCUs throughout the South. We are excited to mobilize economic and growth opportunities with New Orleans as the hub.

"We are each other's harvest; we are each other's business; we are each other's magnitude and bond."

Creating a robust, place-based, inclusive and supportive entrepreneurial ecosystem is crucial for the growth and success of small to mid-size businesses in the South and is an economic imperative for the region and country as a whole. Our primary goal is to accelerate pathways to economic mobility while advancing an equitable ecosystem as well as sustainable wealth creation through collaboration.

For nearly two decades, the Annual Mosaic Genius Gathering on Martha’s Vineyard has been the premier convening of cross-sector leaders focused on advancing solutions to issues impacting black and brown communities. Taking place in August, this signature event is one of the most coveted invitations of the summer season, attracting a network of best in class leaders with cumulative assets of over $3 billion.

2022-

Gathering in Ghana

The present moment calls for a focus on uniting the African diaspora. Beginning in Ghana, known as the gateway to Africa and once home to a significant number of enslaved Africans during the transatlantic slave trade. This journey is the beginning of unveiling the splendor of Ghana and fostering lasting connections that will endure.

Last year, many of us became familiar with the Delta Dirt brand, a family-owned business founded on legacy and dedication. Their impact is being felt nationwide. This story beautifully highlights the significant role the South has played in shaping the economic landscape of the United States and encourages those connected to the region to reconnect and honor the legacy of our ancestors. Recently, the story of this business was brought to the screen. A big congratulations to the Williams family!
